Eligibility Criteria of UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2026

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years
  (i.e., candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1996 and not later than 1st January 2005)

Educational Qualification

For admission to the examination, a candidate must have any one of the following qualifications:

1. A degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India.
2. Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).
3. Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from a recognized foreign University or Institution.
4. Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
5. Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
6. Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London (after Nov 1959).

Special Qualification Criteria

• For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts):
  M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering as a special subject.
• For Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group ‘A’:
  M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics, Radio Communication, or Telecommunication as a special subject.
