Meghalaya Government Holiday List 2026: The Government of Meghalaya has officially notified the holiday calendar for the year 2026. As per the notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on 21 October 2025, all State Government offices, Revenue and Magisterial Courts, and Educational Institutions in Meghalaya will remain closed on the declared dates.

This holiday list includes General Holidays, Local Holidays, Special Holidays, Restricted Holidays, and Bank Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

  • East Khasi Hills District is an exception, where local holidays will be declared by the State Government (GAD-A).

Holidays Under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 – Meghalaya (2026)

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (XXVI of 1881), read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No. 39/1/68-Judl.III dated 8 May 1968, the Governor of Meghalaya is pleased to declare the following days as Public Holidays in the State of Meghalaya during the year 2026.

These holidays are applicable to banks and financial institutions operating in the state.
