About Meghalaya TET (MTET)
The Meghalaya TET (MTET) is a state-level eligibility test conducted to certify candidates for teaching positions in government and private schools across Meghalaya. Qualifying this exam is mandatory for teaching jobs in primary and upper primary classes.

MTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Lower Primary (Classes I–V)
Candidates must have any one of the following:
- Higher Secondary with at least 50% marks + 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Higher Secondary with 45% marks + Diploma (as per NCTE norms)
- Higher Secondary with 50% marks + 4-Year B.El.Ed
- Higher Secondary with 50% marks + Diploma in Special Education
- Graduation + 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Candidates pursuing recognized teacher education courses are also eligible
Upper Primary (Classes VI–VIII)
Candidates must have any one of the following:

- Graduation + 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Graduation/Post Graduation with 50% marks + B.Ed
- Graduation with 45% marks + B.Ed (as per NCTE norms)
- Higher Secondary with 50% marks + 4-Year B.El.Ed
- Higher Secondary with 50% marks + B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed
- Graduation with 50% marks + B.Ed (Special Education)
- Candidates pursuing recognized teacher education courses
Important Notes
- Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/OBC/OST/OSC/PwD candidates
- Only courses recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) or Rehabilitation Council of India will be accepted

- There is no age limit for appearing in MTET 2026
