The High Court of Meghalaya has officially released the advertisement for Direct Recruitment to Meghalaya Judicial Service – Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-Judicial Magistrate First Class (Grade-III), 2026.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive:

  • Pay Level J-1 of Pay Matrix
  • ₹77,840/- per month
  • Other allowances as admissible under rules

Eligibility Criteria

1️⃣ Nationality

  • Must be a Citizen of India

2️⃣ Educational Qualification

  • Must possess a Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university established by law in India.

3️⃣ Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years
  • SC/ST candidates: Up to 38 years
  • Age will be calculated as on the last date of application submission.

4️⃣ Practice Requirement

  • Must have minimum 3 years of practice as an Advocate.

Practice Calculation:

  • Counted from date of provisional enrolment/registration with State Bar Council.
  • Certificate required from:
    • Principal Judicial Officer of concerned court OR
    • Advocate with minimum 10 years standing (duly endorsed).
  • High Court/Supreme Court practitioners must produce proper certification.
  • Experience as Law Clerk will be considered.

Selection Process

The Meghalaya Judicial Service Examination 2026 will be conducted in three stages:

Preliminary Examination (MCQ – 100 Marks)

  • Objective type questions
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Each Question: 2 marks
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Conducted using OMR sheet
  • Answer key published after exam
  • Marks NOT carried forward
